Friday night's opening reception for Milwaukee's Own at The Armoury Gallery should be quite the shindig as all four artists exhibiting are local and nearly all the art is of the installation variety. On display will be the site-specific work of kathryn e. martin--lowercase only, thank you very much--Harvey Opgenorth, Mary DiBiasio, and Colin T. Dickson.
So what will you see if you go? Well, word has it that martin's piece consists of a Styrofoam ringlet mass, taking over a section of the gallery. The always clever and perception-challenging Opgenorth will present an optical wall painting and cartoonishly large gold nuggets. For her part, DiBiasio is displaying a new series of graphite drawings. And Dickson has created a cave of muslin stalactites.
Whaddya think of that, huh? Sounds pretty freaky, right? So then it's settled. You'll attend the opening at The Armoury Gallery, 1718 N. 1st Street 3N3, tomorrow night. Stop on by any time between 6 and 10PM.
