Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Queen of Art City, Mary Louise Schumacher, helpfully informed us this morning that there's a new artsy type kid on the block called SNAPMilwaukee, though the names of the various kids involved are not new to anyone who even pays a modicum of attention to the scene here.
The administrative board includes the ever-evolving brothers Riepenhoff--Joe and John--artist Cat Pham, former Armoury Gallery co-owner Jessica Steeber, and Jake Palmert, who co-owns The Green Gallery East with the John previously mentioned.
Taking on the grueling role of editors for the boatload of writers, critics, commentators, and analysts bound to come knocking on their virtual door will be Cat Pham for architecture, Sarah Buccheri for film, Julie Strand for letters, Neil Gasparka for visual arts, with Amelinda Burich and Carly Rubach performing as a duo for music. They're still apparently on the lookout for a performing arts editor but that'll be short search as the members of that crowd could never be called shy.
SNAPMilwaukee is billing itself as an "on-line critical journal" that will archive "an informed critical discourse in and around the arts through in-depth study, commentary, historical analysis, synthesis and discussion... SNAP offers a variety of perspectives and creates a haven for our community’s many voices." Let the sea of submissions begin!
A launch party is scheduled for tomorrow night, June 4, at The Green Gallery East, 1500 N. Farwell Avenue, running 8-10PM. Get your own personal invite on MARN.
Oh, yes, where are my manners? Welcome, SNAPMilwaukee! May your presence on the sacred Internets™ bring us many things to contemplate and ponder. Also, may you provide Cricky with lots o' material for posts, featuring piles of asides and good-natured fun. Hehe!
