The upstanding peeps at Miltown's temporary public art org IN:SITE have been workin' their creative noodles down to their starchy atoms for months to develop, fund and get approval for their Park East Corridor (PEC) Project. Now the fruits of their labor are juicy ripe and the wait is over. Well, at least part of the wait.
For Gallery Night weekend, July 24 and 25, seven of the eleven installation, performance and interactive projects will be available for your perusal at various sites in the PEC area:
• Gary John Gresl's "Disinterment" along Broadway, between Ogden and Knapp Streets.
• Sarah Luther's "Park East Souvenir Stand" from 6-8PM along Water Street on Friday & "Sunset Theater" from 7:30-8:30PM on Jefferson Street, between Lyon and Ogden Streets, on Saturday.
• Kasia Drake's "Uniting the Fence" volunteer latching from 1-5PM at the corner of Water and Knapp Streets on Saturday.
• Chris Bach and Cat Pham's "Framing Place" at four separate locations.
• Annushka Peck's "cede" billboard map on Water Street with cutout elements attached across the street at the Laacke & Joys boathouse, 1463 N. Water Street.
• Paul Druecke's "Guide" banner on the Sydney Hih building, 300 W. Juneau Avenue.
• Ted Brusubardis' "Landscape" sound and video projected on either side of Water Street at the North End and The Flatiron from 8-11PM on both Friday and Saturday.
Pegi Christiansen--who recently got happily hitched, resulting in a change to her surname from Taylor--emailed Cricky a helpful map today of the project sites when fully up and running for the week-long grand opening, August 23-30 (click on it for an eyeball friendly view):
Truly, people, the willful dismantling of a freeway has never produced a better a result!
(Thanks, Pegi!)
