The John Michael Kohler Arts Center (JMKAC), located in the fair town of Sheboygan, is calling all artists--and they mean ANY and ALL, including those working in video/time based media--to submit an entry to represent their respective and exact east-central Wisconsin point of geography in the Eight Counties exhibition this coming January. In order for this wonderfilled thing to happen, you've gotta get your submission in by October 30--that's just one measly week away!
The eight counties from which JMKAC seeks fantastical art are Sheboygan, Brown, Calumet, Fond du Lac, Manitowoc, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, and Washington, so if ya live and sweat your artsy craft--whether full or part-time--in any one of these areas on the map and are at or above the randomly designated and legally agreed to age of adultness for totin' a gun but not for boozin' up--i.e. 18 years--you, my good friend, are eligible.
Ya know I wouldn't post this if there wasn't somethin' offered for your benefit beyond the won't-do-a-damn-thing-to-support-your-silly-food-ingesting-habit "exposure" prize and here it is: A grand total of $2,500 in cash awards will be given out! That's all kinds of juicy sweet.
The Eight Counties exhibition will be held in the JMKAC's Collections & Community Galleries from January 25 through March 21, 2010. Complete guidelines and an entry form can be downloaded here.
With so much talent nurtured and harbored within these eight counties, the final show will no doubt snag the Best Megasurvey of Wisco Art Award of 2010. And when the exhibit steps up to accept the honor at the ceremony, after the obligatory appreciation of its parents, grad school mentor and dog Chipper, it'll thank the most important contributor to its success: You!

Awesome, thanks for posting this. It looks good, hadn't heard of it. Exposure can get you arrested in most of these counties, but who wouldn't chance it for a shot at some more food!
