One of Cricky's all-time greatest intel tippers--let's just say it's Jeri Krohn of the Wisconsin Arts Board. Wait... Oh man, my source protection has really gotten lax lately--alerted me last Friday to the Kennedy Centers' On Location: Spotlight on Your Community program. Pesky life obligations have kept me from blogging it up until now, but you crazy cats are all hyper-creative types so I know that the electronic application deadline of this Friday, November 13, will roll off ya like water on a naturally oiled duck's back.
I'm not gonna ramble on and on about the program--time she is awastin'--but basically, in the words of its promo material, the program brings "two On Location media artists to 10 selected schools across the country to help students learn how to tell the story of the arts in their community through digital storytelling. The On Location bus will visit one school in each community for thirteen days, from November 2009 to June 2010. Each school will receive a media package as part of its participation in the program."
What's that? There's something in there that really caught your eye, eh? Ah, yes, the media package. Well, that baby includes $5,000 worth of digital still and video cameras, microphones, and iMac computer with iMovie software. Now that calls for a Whoozzah!
So if you're a teacher and you've got a BFF who's also a teacher at your school and when ya get together all ya talk about is your shared fantasy of joining forces on a project that will blow the minds of your students while also imparting key knowledge of the 21st Century kind, then you need to download the application, get your principal's boy-howdy-that-sounds-great A-OK, and submit it as soon as humanly possible. Don't just sit there, start clickin'!
