Before you read this item, please take note that this is the second plug we've given the Milwaukee Art Museum (MAM) in under a week--the first one's here--meaning that either the folks working under the wings over there are starting to do something right or Cricky's plumb tuckered out from the endless struggle against The Man. No need to fret though, kids, it'll be nap time just as soon as this write-up is finished and I'll be back in top fight-the-power form shortly.
So, yeah, this Friday, November 20, is the next installment of the museum's ongoing überhipster attractor MAM After Dark. This one's entitled The Future Is Now and focuses on the Andy Warhol: The Last Decade exhibition that's got everybody in an artistic tizzy.
The main reason, however, that we're bloggin' this up is because the relatively harmless nutjobs at Luckystar Studio will be presenting work by some of the local artists featured in the It Came From Milwaukee traveling show as well as a short film fest homage to the visually adept Warhol created by Miltown filmmakers and videographers--all ringing in at 15 minutes each, of course, because that quote, unlike Warhol himself, will never ever die.
Both of these Luckystar sponsored projects received press right here and here on CricketToes this past year and, during those rare times when we pretend to be "real" journalists, we think it right and proper to follow up on stories we've covered. And so here we are doing that very thing!
MAM After Dark: The Future Is Now runs from 5PM to the witching hour this Friday. Rumor has it that Warhol--pictured above in this lovely vacation shot from the banks of the River Styx--may make the trip from the Great Beyond to see if all the hubbub is warranted, and ya don't wanna miss that, do ya? Course not.
(Thanks, Gene & Bridget!)
