Photographer William Zuback, whom we profiled for your edification last month, posted the eleventh installment in his Book Passages Series on July 8 and, holy love cats, it is so deliciously creepy, lonely and enticingly dark that I fell into a primal goth punk flashback, the depths of which have not been experienced in eons. Oh black joy, how I've missed you!
Keeping in line with his project's premise, Zuback has created four visual interpretations of the "Invitation" that appears in the brilliant Shel Silverstein's poetry collection Where the Sidewalk Ends--one of my all-time favorite books! There's no doubt that Silverstein boiled his noodle in the crazy soup longer than most of us, so there's much to be learned from his mad way with words.
While the readers' poll on this installment has closed--sorry I didn't tell ya about it sooner, kids--you can still leave constructive comments for the photog and I heartily encourage y'all to do so.
Hi Mary, Thanks again for your excitement with this series of images. I really like how you studied the different images from this interpretation. I agree with you on your critique of the lollipop image. I too have moved toward three as my favorite. They all offer a something a little different but three seems to pull you in conceptually but still leave room for personal interpretation.
